Event Information

Title: RCRA: Hazardous Waste in the Healthcare Setting

Cost: Free to All Pass Types

Description:

The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act RCRA is our nation’s primary law governing the disposal of solid and hazardous waste. RCRA was signed into law on October 21, 1976, to address the increasing problems the nation faced from our growing volume of municipal and industrial waste.

This presentation is review of the history of the program and current regulations affecting the healthcare industry. The EPA program delegates primary responsibility of implementing the RCRA hazardous waste program to individual states in lieu of EPA, thus creating program differences from state to state. I will focus on my understanding of the RCRA regulations in the state of NC and offer resources to find and understand the standards set by other states and the U.S. EPA.
