Mark Heatley has worked more than 30 years in the Healthcare industry. Mark’s career has always been in the support service side of healthcare. The bulk of his career he has worked for Atrium health as an employee or contract worker. Mark’s current position, Quality and Standards Manager at Aramark Healthcare+ under the Atrium Health contract, this role allows him to utilize his experience in Safety, Infection Prevention, Regulatory Surveys and Technology solutions.

His first introduction to healthcare was a summer job working in the laundry as a sorter. He eventually returned to healthcare as a medical photographer allowing him to experience all aspects of acute care. Moving into a leadership role, Mark became the Director of Medical Media Services overseeing Medical Photography, Audiovisual Support, Graphic Arts and Medical Illustration. As technology changed to digital photography Mark changed his focus and moved to hospital administration managing support services consisting of Environmental Services, Food and Nutrition, Patient Access, Facilities Maintenance and Security for 10 years. In his administrative role he performed the role of Facility Safety Officer and Committee Chair, Facility Privacy Officer along with other support roles as needed.

In all his career Mark has utilized his education, starting with a BS from Central Michigan University Majoring in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry. Taking an unusual path he next attended Ohio Institute of Photography to receive an Associate Degree in Medical Photography. Mark’s final adventure in formal education occurred while he was working full-time and attended Pfeiffer University to obtain a Master of Healthcare Administration and Master of Business Administration.

Mark has been a member of various professional organizations and has been an active member of IEHA, a Division of ISSA since 2021. He spends his free time with wife Tina traveling to kite festivals in the Southeast to fly their show and stunt kites. When not flying kites, they enjoy driving their convertible in the NC mountains.
