Kimberly Thomas

Senior Director of Services, Facilities Management University of Georgia

Kimberly Thomas is the Senior Director of Services, Facilities Management Division at the University of Georgia. She oversees custodial operations, grounds, sustainability/recycling, the warehouse, the work request center, and the automotive center for the University of Georgia- Facilities Management Division.  With over 28 years of experience in management at both higher education and K12 institutions, her facility teams have been recognized as winners of the Green Cleaning Award of Schools and Universities’ Awards several times (Clarke County School District: K-12 Grand Award 2016, New Program K-12 Honorable Mention in 2014 and UGA Services Department: Co-Grand Award 2010 and the Honorable Mention in 2009). Through leadership as the Executive Director of Facilities at Clarke County School District, her departments have also received recognition for its commitment to green cleaning and sustainability from the Healthy Schools Network, Environmental Protective Agency- Georgia state office, and US Green Building Council-Georgia division. Prior to her role at Clarke County, she was the Assistant Director of Services for the University of Georgia where the custodial department received national recognition of green cleaning, employee training, and sustainability initiatives to be one of the first U.S. universities to achieve ISSA's Cleaning Industry Management Standard for Green Buildings with Honors since 2011. She is a member of the Healthy Green Schools and Colleges Program Committee
